Healthy Burke History & Focus
In 1995 a Steering Committee was established in Burke County to assess and address health needs and risk factors within the community. As a result of this Steering committee, Burke County began the process of certification with the NC Department of Public Health Office of Healthy Carolinians.

Healthy Carolinians is a statewide partnership that addresses health related issues at the community level. In 1998, Burke County was awarded initial certification and has maintained certification status. Healthy Burke is one of many NC counties that have partnered with the Office of Healthy Carolinians to improve the health of North Carolinians.

With representation from various sectors in Burke County, Healthy Burke/Healthy Carolinians works aggressively to improve the health status of Burke County citizens through education, resources and access to healthcare.
